Tuam Records Project
An independent, source-led archive of documents, claims, corrections, official records and forensic updates relating to the Tuam Mother and Baby Home, built to help ordinary readers compare public claims with the documents behind them.
What this archive does
The Tuam Records Project collects official records, commission findings, forensic updates, church and state statements, and media coverage relating to St Mary's Mother and Baby Home, Tuam, and presents them alongside the public claims made about them. Every document is dated and sourced. Every claim is checked against the same standard, whichever side of the debate it favours.
Document Library
Official records, commission reports and statements, catalogued with a source note for each one.

This site is updated as the record changes. As of the most recent official update we could verify:
Ongoing A full forensic excavation of the Tuam site, led by the Office of the Director of Authorised Intervention, Tuam (ODAIT), began in July 2025 and is expected to continue into 2027, with further work likely beyond that.
Official update As of ODAIT's update on 22 July 2026, the remains of 99 infants and children have been recovered so far, in an area separate from the underground chambers examined in 2017. Work in that chamber area has not yet begun.
Documented fact In March 2017, the Commission of Investigation confirmed that significant quantities of human remains had been found in 17 of 20 underground chambers on the site: a structure it said "appears to be related to the treatment/containment of sewage and/or waste water," though its original purpose had not been fully determined.
